Save the Park by Manuela Hiches
With sea levels continuing to rise, the people of New York City decide that they need to save Central Park, the most famous urban park in America. The plan is to uproot the park in sections and have the people of the city move into the floating structures temporarily while the city rebuilds.
The last section of the park, including the Hallet Nature Sanctuary and the Central Park Pond, is set to sail out from the sinking city. Despite the promises, several people have not been relocated. This scene shows a few of the refugees left behind that are hoping to be rescued.
It begs the question, what was the city trying to save? Did we need to bother saving a sinking city if we can’t even save the people living in it? Thousands of people poured money into building a structure that is essentially useless. Is this our future?
