Vertical city by XINYU LI
What does the city of the future look like? The classic residential towers will be replaced by vertical cities, and the urban ground will be covered by gardens and forests. All vertical cities are being built overhead, and these are composite cities consisting of living space, public space and circulation space. These high-rise buildings are connected by sky bridges with neighboring towers. For each community, it is composed by circulation, living and activity. The two neighboring communities are connected by a level of garden at the bottom that is accessible to the public which becomes also a link with the neighboring towers, and a level of open space at the top. The repetitive units compose a tower, which gives a musical rhythm and each community becomes the continuous but different.
