The Courtyard Village is a concept design for an apartment complex set in the Mar Vista neighborhood in Los Angeles, California. Its intended audience is for the temporary support needs for the business class and for the retirement support of the elderly. Its precedents are inspired by the architecture seen in Europe in the older cities where narrow streets and stone and wood are the dominant materials seen. The Courtyard Village is meant to give a warm esthetic to its occupants as they dwell within their respective units. It is a place that provides privacy where needed and at the same time, offers openness to the adjacent neighborhood and its occupants. The Courtyard Village offers varying social spaces within itself such as garden areas, game rooms, and conference rooms. The Courtyard Village also provides spaces for the public with a public park, garden area, outdoor seating, cafe, and a clinic.
